Thorne CF interior
Title
Thorne CF interior
Description
The interior of C. F. Thorne taken some years after the photo of the exterior which was dated 1890. William S. (on the left) is an adult and Charles F. (on the right) has aged as well. The gentleman in the middle is Frank Daly. Men's hats are on display in the glass case with boxes of gloves perhaps or cufflinks or neckties are on shelves behind the counter. Men's shirts and trousers are draped on a line.
The electrical lights date this as after 1897 when the city was first electrified. The store was named C. F. Thorne and Son in the 1904 special edition of the Woodstock Sentinel.
Jim Keefe took a photograph of the original picture. On the back he wrote: Left W. S. T.; middle-Frank Daly; right-Grandfather C. F. Thorne. It's likely that the owner of the original photo was the grandchild rather than Jim.
