Title

Jackson St. looking W from Throop ca 1955

Description

Nothing visible in this photo remains today. Not the traffic light, nor any of the buildings, nor the trees.

The traffic light stood at the corner of W. Jackson and U. S. Route 14 (Throop St.) The sign belonged to a gas station. The building behind the traffic light was a large house.

On the right corner stood the second oldest church in Woodstock, the First Baptist Church. Two large houses filled the rest of the block.

Everything was demolished to make room for the First National Bank (now BMO Harris Bank) and the Chicago Title Company (now Michling Plaza & Associates) and the Illinois Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T).
