Sherburne's Garage Fordson Tractor

Title

Sherburne's Garage Fordson Tractor

Description

This picture could be mistaken for a men's fashion advertisement sometime between 1917 and 1930. The gentleman next to the Fordson tractor is one of the Sherburnes (Vernon or his sons Clarence, Carroll or Elwood). It was taken in Sherburne's Garage, 109 Church Street, sometime after 1917 when the first Fordson tractor was manufactured.

Vernon Sherburne started his Ford dealership in 1912 and continued until 1942 when he changed it to Sherburne's Bowling Alley, which became Wayne's City Lanes in 1966 or 1967.

Note the unusual cover on the overhead light.
