Church Demolition Dacy Lumber 1 1962
Title
Church Demolition Dacy Lumber 1 1962
Description
First in a series covering the demolition of the first church built in Woodstock that was being used for storage by Dacy Lumber company. A National Tea Company grocery store was built on the site with 220 N. Jefferson as the address.
The church was on the corner of Church & Jefferson Streets where the Challenger Learning Center is now located. The original front portico and door was removed so outside access was from the street level only. The steeple was also removed and the Dacy Lumber sign put on the steeple support.
This photo shows most of the old house facing Jefferson that had been used as the lumber company office. It was demolished at the same time as the church.
A photo of the original church and the history is covered in ID 50.
