Title
Catholic Church 1905-1908
Description
This is a photo of St. Mary Catholic Church on Lincoln Avenue with the parish house (rectory) on the right. This brick church was built in 1856 for $4,000. It was remodeled and improved in 1881, when the seating was increased from 200 to 400. It was demolished in March 1916 to make space for the current grade school.
The parish house was built when Rev. Michael S. Gilmartin was pastor from 1905-1908. It was torn down in 1965 to make way for a new rectory during Fr. Joseph Egan's pastorate (1934-1968).
