Panorama Square bird's eye view from Jefferson St 1996

1996 color aerial photograph of the Woodstock Square, Woodstock, Illinois. The prominent buildings seen are the Woodstock Opera House, The Old McHenry County Courthouse, the decorative Springhouse and City Hall.

Jim Keefe's office was on Jefferson St. fairly close to where this photo was taken. His son Patrick was on the fire department, so perhaps he had access to a hook & ladder truck to take it.

Post Office and Central School ca 1954

Circa 1954 black and white photograph of the Woodstock Post Office building on Johnson Street, Woodstock, Illinois. In the background is the Woodstock Central School building (now home of Woodstock City Hall) on Calhoun Street.

Part of the Post Office on Johnson Street and part of Central School on Calhoun Street (now City Hall).

In 1955, the county purchased Central School from District 72 to use as the Courthouse Annex.

Post Office construction front

1932 black and white photograph of the Woodstock Post Office building on Johnson Street, Woodstock, Illinois. At the time of the photograph the building was still under construction. There is an automobile parked in front of the building with two men standing on the sidewalk and the original Montgomery Ward building is seen the background next door.

The exterior of the Post Office seems to be complete when compared with later photos.

There is also a rare view of the Montgomery Ward department store before the addition that doubled its original size.
