This series of photos was taken for Fair Diddley in 1971. Fair Diddley booths did not extend into the Square Park. The diagonal sidewalk from the west entrance passes by the (roofless) bandstand towards the Main St. entrance. A woman left her car running while she went to make a deposit at the State Bank (101 S. Benton). When she returned to the car, she heard it drop into gear. It jumped the curb and demolished a parking meter before crashing into the window. The driver was cited by the police for leaving a vehicle running while unoccupied. This should be part of the Fair Diddley photos that were taken for The Spotlite Newsletter, but the date on the edge of the photo says June 1972 rather than May. Bushkopf Walgreens Pharmacy has recently moved into 101 N. Benton which is on the first floor below Hotel Woodstock.
