Community Guidelines
Woodstock Public Library maintains a collection of local history artifacts to promote discovery and research among our patrons. The library's stewardship over its collections intends to provide as much of that content to the community as possible. However, due to copyright restrictions, there are limitations to what artifacts can be displayed online and how they can be used by exhibit visitors. If you are considering using content from this exhibit for personal needs, please read our Copyright & Fair Use Statement below.

Digital Collections: Copyright & Fair Use Statement
Woodstock Public Library creates digital access to certain collections in order to support the private study, educational, and scholarly endeavors of the Woodstock community and the general public. In preparing digital collections and online exhibitions, Woodstock Public Library evaluates copyright status and considers specific exceptions permitted in U.S. copyright law, including fair use. In some cases, Woodstock Public Library owns copyright or has determined collections are not protected by copyright.
Where our digital collections and online exhibitions are protected by copyright outside the library’s ownership, Woodstock Public Library makes no representation about the copyright or other legal status of the materials. It is the user’s responsibility to identify copyright owners and obtain the appropriate permissions to publish or reproduce images. Users are welcome to link to our online exhibitions or digital collections for educational and research purposes.
Material in the digital collections does not necessarily reflect any official position of Woodstock Public Library, the City of Woodstock, or McHenry County. The content of some material may be considered sensitive, reflecting the culture or language of a period or place.
